Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with representatives of Mission K-9 Warriors, a special group that provides service dogs to veterans in and around the Champaign and Vermillion county area.
From the Mission K9 Warrior Website:
"It is our goal to provide a K9 service dog to the qualified veterans that need them the most. Mission K9 Warrior Program Qualifications:1) Veteran must have served in a combat theater that contributed to PTSD. 2) Must be in services for PTSD with a 30% rating. 3) Must be able to provide a good home and healthy diet for the K9 service dog. 4) Must provide consistent veterinary care for the life of the K9 Service dog. 5) The K9 trainer has final say on qualifying the applicants."
Here's a picture with me and some of the amazing volunteers from the American Legion Post 203 and that help make this program possible:
I am so thankful for the opportunity to meet with these heros and their service dogs and I hope you will join me in supporting their cause.
